Newly appointed High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh Yasoja Gunasekera presented credentials to President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Tuesday.
Welcoming the High Commissioner, Abdul Hamid said the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are excellent and hoped that the relations would be strengthened further during the tenure of the High Commissioner, President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS after the meeting.
The President stressed the need for gearing up the activities of Bangladesh-Sri Lanka Joint Working Group on Trade for boosting bilateral trade and investment for the mutual benefits of the two countries.
Abdul Hamid also underscored the need for exchanging delegations between the two countries for increasing trade and investment.
Yasoja Gunasekera sought the President’s cooperation in discharging her assignment in Bangladesh and said that she would make best efforts to expedite bilateral relations.
