Lanka make 314/8 against Bangladesh

Sri Lanka made a good total of 314 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs against Bangladesh in their first One Day International (ODI) match at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday.
Sri Lanka had a poor start as opener Avishka Fernando (7) was caught at the first slip by Soumya Sarkar off Shafiul Islam when Sri Lanka’s score was just 10.
After Fernando’s dismissal, Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Perera mended the damage contributing together 100 runs for the second wicket partnership before Karunaratne was caught at the short fine leg by Mustafizur Rahman off

Mehedi Hasan Miraz when the hosts’ total was 107 for the loss of two wickets.
Kusal Perera hit a superb 111. His 99-ball innings was laced with 17 fours and a sixer. It was Perera’s fifth ODI century.
Karunaratne made 36 from 37 balls featuring four fours.
After Karunaratne’s departure, Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis put on together 100 runs in the third wicket stand before Perera was caught at the short fine leg by Mustafizur Rahman off Soumya Sarkar when Sri Lanka’s score was 207 for the loss of three wickets.
Kusal Mendis was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim off Rubel Hossain when the home side’s total was 212 for the loss of four wickets.
Mendis hit a polished 43 from 49 balls including four fours.
Third-down Angelo Mathews and Lahiru Thirimanne (25) put on together 60 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Lahiru was caught at the deep mid-wicket by Soumya Sarkar off Mustafizur Rahman when the islanders’ score was 272 for the loss of five wickets.
Thisara Perera (2) was caught at the deep extra cover by Soumya Srakar off Shafiul Islam when the hosts’ total was 276 for the loss of six wickets.
Angelo Mathews was caught at the long-off by Sabbir Rahman off Mustafizur Rahman when Sri Lanka’s score was 302 for the loss of seven wickets.
Mathews hit a captain’s knock of 48. His 52-ball innings saw three shots across the ropes.
Dhananjaya de Silva (18) was caught at the long-on by Sabbir Rahman off Shafiul Islam when Sri Lanka’s score was 309 for the loss of eight wickets.
Shafiul Islam grabbed three wickets at the cost of 62 runs, while Mustafizur Rahman bagged a pair of wickets instead of 75 runs.
Soumya Sarkar, Rubel Hossain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took one wicket each for 17, 54 and 56 runs respectively.
