Lanka clinch T20I series

Sri Lanka clinched the T20I series 2-0 beating Bangladesh by 75 runs in the second and final Twenty20 International Cricket match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Sent into bat first, Sri Lanka piled up a mammoth total of 210 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, Bangladesh were all out for 135 off 18.4 overs.
Mahmudullah Riyad and Tamim Iqbal fought back against the good bowling attack of Sri Lanka.
Riyad hit 41. His 31-ball innings was belted with four fours and a sixer before he was run out by a joint effort of Mendis and Isuru Udana when Bangladesh’s score was 113 for the loss of seven wickets. After dismissal of Riyad, Bangladesh’s hope to win went into vain.
Tamim Iqbal made 29 from 23 balls featuring two fours and two sixes.
Danushka Gunathilaka and Shehan Madushanka were the peak of Sri Lanka bowlers with two wickets each for three and 23 runs respectively.
Earlier, Sri Lanka made a good start as openers Danushka Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis put on together 98 runs in the opening stand before Gunathilaka was caught at the long-off by Tamim Iqbal off Soumya Sarkar.
Gunathilaka hit a polished 42. His 37-ball innings saw two sixes and three fours.
Kusal Mendis and Thisara Perera added together 51 runs for the second wicket partnership before Thisara Perera was caught at the long-off by Mehedi Hasan off Abu Jayed when the islander’ total was 149 for the loss of two wickets.
Then Kusal Mendis was caught by Mehedi Hasan off Mustafizur Rahman when the tourists’ score was 160 for the loss of three wickets.
Kusal hit a windy 70. His 42-ball knock was studded with three sixes and six fours.
Second-down Upul Tharanga (25) was caught at the long-off by Soumya Sarkar off Mohammad Saifuddin when Sri Lanka’s score was 205 for the loss of four wickets.
Thisara Perera made 31 from 17 balls featuring three fours and one six.
Dasun Shanaka remained unbeaten with 30. He hit five fours and a sixer in his 11-ball knock.
Soumya Sarkar, Mutafizur Rahman, Abu Jayed and Mohammad Saifuddin took one wicket each for 25, 39, 45 and 46 runs respectively.
