At least three Rohingya men fleeing violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State were killed and three others were injured in landmine blast near Myanmar border with Bangladesh on Sunday.
The blast took place at Rezu Amtoli border and Tumbru border at Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban district in the early hours. Chairman of Gundhum Union Parishad Jahangir Aziz told the Banglanews that the landmine was planted at Rezu Amtoli point of Myanmar on the way of Rohingya refugees. Three died on the spot and another was injured in the landmine blast.
On the other hand, two others were injured in the landmine blast at Tumbru border. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) confirmed the matter. On Saturday, the Amnesty International said that Myanmar security forces planted the mines, which are banned internationally. The landmines were planted to prevent the return of Rohingya refugees in Myanmar. Aid groups and Bangladesh government said that Myanmar has been planted the landmine to deter fleeing members of the minority Rohingya community from returning to Myanmar.
