Police have arrested a landlord in Ashulia on the outskirts of the capital for reportedly raping three children.
The arrestee was identified as Helal Uddin Sheikh, 57, of Taiyubpur in Ashulia, said sub-inspector of Ashulia Police Station Joyanta Kumar Saha.
Helal raped the children, including two twins, on Tuesday last, he added.
The parents of the twins, also tenants of the accused, work in a garment factory.
They went to their factory on Tuesday as usual leaving the two daughters at home alone.
Helal called the two twins and a girl of their nearby house to his room at noon where he violated them.
The victims narrated the incident to their patents after they returned home at night.
However, the landlord tried to hush up the incident.
Meanwhile, a local called the national emergency hotline 999 on Thursday night and informed police of the incident.
Later, a team of police arrested Helal at midnight.
