Land owners demand fair compensation for extension of Green City in RNPP

 Affected Land owners and locals formed a human chain, organised rallies and demonstrations at the Green City area of Green City area of Pakshi Bypass Highway under Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) demanding proper compensation of land acquired for the extension of Green City on Saturday .
Representatives of the minority community Surja Nath Mondal, Mubarak Hossain, businessman Maruf Hossain, Molina Begum, Lipon Member, Irene Khatun, Abdur Rashid, Babul Ashraf and Babul, spoke at the rally chaired by Awami League leader Zulmat Haider.
Speakers demanded execution of six-point demands which include payment of compensation as per commercial rate and requisition of land following current market value .
The protesters said at the beginning of the work of Green City, project officials have allegedly sold trees, buildings and bricks worth crores of taka of the Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP).
 The officials forcibly evacuated the locals from their inheritated paternal land at a nominal price .
The speakers also said that the order was issued by Pabna Land Acqusitation Officer to acquire 6.60 decimel land area for the purpose of extending Green City under the Ruppur Nuclear Power Project.
The notice mentioned that Tk 45,484 for per decimel and Tk 47,588 per decimel bamboo cluster, Tk 53,657 per decimel for high land and Tk 83,305 for homestate but the present market value of the land in our area is lowest rate Tk 2 lakh per decimel and highest rate Tk 6 lakh.
