The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday caught a land official of Nangalkot Upazila of Comilla red-handed in the act of taking bribe.
A seven-member ACC team, led by its director Md Abu Sayed, arrested assistant land officer Bangodda Union Parishad
Land Office Md Abul Hossain from his office, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB. Local complainant Nashiul Haque recently went to the local UP land office for a mutation of his land, but Abul Hossain demanded Tk 4,000 from him to do his job.
Later, the plaintiff logged an allegation to the Commission against the land official using the ACC’s 106 hotline. In consultation with the ACC officials, Nashiul Haque went to the land office again on Wednesday to give Abul Hossain Tk 4,000 in bribe. ACC officials swooped just as the illegal transaction was proceeding.
