Land Ministry’s ‘Kutub’ gets bail

A Dhaka court has granted bail to Kutub Uddin Ahmed, an administration official of the Land Ministry, in a case filed over graft charges.
Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka passed the order after hearing in the case on

 Thursday. Several lawyers including advocate Saidur Rahman Manik stood for Kutub Uddin Ahmed while advocate Mahmud Hossain Jahangir on behalf of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) opposed the bail. Earlier on April 8, the court sent Kutub Uddin Ahmed to jail on graft charges.
Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission Mirza Zahidul Alam produced him before the court in the afternoon on the day and filed a petition to keep him confined in jail until the investigation ends.
Earlier, ACC arrested him from Segunbagicha of the capital at noon on the day. Kutub Uddin allotted a 10-katha plot in Gulshan in the names of some of his relatives, including his father-in-law, using fake documents, according to ACC’s Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.
