A mobile court here on Monday sentenced a land grabber Mohammad Masum to two-year imprisonment.
The mobile court led by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Habibul Hasan, raided Kalatoli bypass road in the afternoon and held Masum and handed down the judgement. During the drive, khas lands worth about Tk 2 crore were also recovered.
The UNO said Masum, son of Anwar Hossain of Jhautala area in the town, has long been engaged in hill cutting. He grabbed 60 per cent hilly lands in the last eight months.
The administration, so far, conducted, raids 11 times, but could not arrest Masum as he and his workers managed to flee every time.
