Land acquisition officer jailed in ACC case

A court of Chattogram has sent Vijay Kumar Singh, Additional Land Acquisition Officer of Khagrachhari Hill District, to jail in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate-3 Sarwar Jahan passed the order on Monday (March 15) afternoon. Earlier on Monday (March 15) at noon, a team from the Chittagong District Office-2 comprising the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested him from the GEC junction area of the city on the basis of secret information.
According to court sources, the ACC Ctg District Office-2 filed a case on March 10 last year alleging corruption in land acquisition for the construction of a PBI district office in Cox’s Bazar district. Vijay Kumar Singh was made the accused in that case.
He has been brought under the law on the basis of the statements of other accused in the case. Another accused in the case Md. Idrish Ali CIP is also in the jail..Another accused Advocate Nurul Haque is on bail in the custody of the Cox’s Bazar District Bar Association.
ACC lawyer Mahmudul Haque told media that Vijay Kumar Singh, Additional Land Acquisition Officer of Khagrachhari Hill District, was arrested and produced in court in the ACC case. The court ordered him sent to jail.
