Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID)seized a 40-feet long container loaded with 19 tons of laminated fabrics worth TK one crore on charge of false declaration at Chittagong Port on Wednesday .
Custom sources said Global Business House Limited of Dhaka imported the container from China with false declaration. Based on secret information, officials of CIID seized the container at No.3 Yard of Chittagong Port.
Jakir Hossain, Deputy Director of CIID said an importer has imported 19 tons of fabrics paying the minimum duty but the importer has also imported high duty laminated fabrics which is four times higher than declaration.
After physical inspection, the containers were sealed off in presence of the officials of concerned departments, Custom sources said.
