The Metropolitan Session’s Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Wednesday granted bail to Khaled Hassan Matin, owner of Gulshan’s Lakehead Grammar School, in a bribery case.
Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah on Wednesday passed the order after Khaled Hassan Matin moved an appeal petition against the lower court’s rejection order.
Matin’s counsel Ehsanul Haque Shamaji represented him in the court, while Anti-Corruption Commission lawyer Mahmud Hossain Zahangir opposed the bail in the court.
On January 22, Detective Branch Police SI Md Monirul Islam filed the case with Banani Police Station of the city
under sections 161/162 and 165 of the Penal Code. The following day, DB Police produced the accused in the court and prayed for orders to keep them in the jail custody till the end of the investigation, while the court acceded to the plea and sent the accused to the jail on the same day.
The court source says, earlier, Md Motaleb Hossain, education minister’s personal officer (PO), education ministry’s senior assistant Nasir Uddin and Lakehead Grammar School director Khaleque Hassan lodged a complaint with the police station against Matin for transaction of bribe.
