Staff Reporter :
The authorities of Lakehead Grammar School on Wednesday closed down the schools’ academic activities following a government order in this regard.
On Monday, the Education Ministry ordered the Dhaka district administration to shut down the Lakehead Grammar School for allegedly patronising militancy and involvement in ‘anti-liberation’ activities.
The school, founded in 2006, has several branches in Dhanmondi and Gulshan.
“We have shut the school’s academic activities in line with the government order,” Asif Ishtiaq, head of administration of Lakehead Grammar School, told the New Nation yesterday.
Regarding the allegations of militant links, Asif said, “The allegations were against our old owners and management committee. Both the committee and owners have already been revamped and changed. So, there should not be any problem regarding militancy as far as our school is concerned.”
