Lack of management and education in Apparel sector obstacle to achieve goal

In the absence of inadequate management and general education, the garment industry of Bangladesh cannot achieve the desired goals. Although the cost of production is increasing steadily, global clothing prices are declining. Government and private enterprises need to face this challenge.
The experts of this sector said this on the last day of the three-day International Scientific Conference on Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology in the capital on Thursday.
There are 150 researchers from international and national levels participated in this seminar titled ‘Sustainability of GlobalGarment Industry.’
Execution of Aalborg University Professor Mohammad Bakhtiar Rana, Speakers said foreign workers at the top level of the garment sector of the country are uniquely dominated by lack of skilled manpower. Remittance is going away from Bangladesh. Therefore, special emphasis is needed to create skilled manpower in the universities. At the same time, in the global competitive market to invest in the development of the garment sector will be invested in the study.

Denmark’s Aalborg University and AhsanullahUniversity of Science and Technology and Jagannath University of Bangladesh are jointly implementing the research titled ‘Productivity Occupational Health and Safety in Garment Industry of Bangladesh’ by the Development Agency-DANIDA funding. This is the first major research activity on the potential garment industry of Bangladesh.
