Labour and Welfare Fund on Tuesday got around Taka 11 crore from five local and multinational companies.
State Minister for Labour and Employment M Mujibul Haque received the cheques for the amount from representatives of the five companies, said a press release here.
The companies are Jamuna Oil Company (Taka 3.19 crore), British American Tobacco Bangladesh (Taka 6.55 crore), bKash Limited (Taka 19 lakh), LP Gas Limited (Taka 7.66 lakh) and Eksenchar Bangladesh Limited (Taka 58 thousand).
Labour Welfare Fund has got a total of Taka 170 crore from 72 companies till now while over Taka two crore has given to different workers as assistance, the release added.
According to the labour law, if a company makes a profit of over Taka two crore, it will have to share five percent of its total profit with workers.
Four percent of the five percent share will have to be given to the workers directly, while half percent has to be deposited to its own Labour Welfare Fund and the rest amount will have to be deposited in Labour welfare Fund under Labour and Employment Ministry.
