The Kuwait Olympic Committee (KOC) has been suspended by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as a result of what they regarded as undue government interference.
According to the IOC, the KOC is not entitled to participate in any activity connected with the Olympic movement or exercise any right conferred upon it by the Olympic Charter or IOC.
The suspension will remain in place until a reasonable and mutually acceptable solution can be found although details of the alleged government interference were not released.
Kuwait’s Football Association (KFA) was already suspended by world governing body FIFA last Friday after earlier allegations of government interference.
Kuwait are currently well-placed to qualify for the next stage of World Cup qualifying, sitting in second spot behind South Korea in Group G with their next match scheduled for November 17 against Myanmar.
