A Kushtia court has framed charges against Assistant Sub-inspector Shoumen Kumar Roy-the lone accused in a sensational triple murder case.
Shoumen Roy appeared in court on Monday. Sheikh Abu Taher, the District and Sessions Judge of Kushtia, read out the charges of the three murders at the time.
Shoumen killed Asma (25), her son Robin (7), and Shakil Khan (26), in front of the customs office in Kushtia town, on June 13 last year.
On June 14, Shoumen confessed in a local court to committing the crimes.
He told the court that he killed the three out of anger. He, however, regretted killing the 7-year-old Robin.
Shoumen made the confessional statement to Kushtia Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rezaul Karim, said Nishikant Saha, officer-in-charge (investigation) of
Kushtia Model Police Station, and also the investigation officer of the two cases filed in connection with the incident.
The court recorded the statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The judge later sent Shoumen to jail.
Shoumen has been in jail since the incident.
