Kushtia bus plunge kills 4

Four people have been killed and at least 30 others injured as a passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch in the district. The incident took place in Naymail Kachari area of district`s Mirpur upazila early Thursday. The deceased were identified as Alam Ali Mondol, 55, President of Akkelpur upazila unit of Zaker Party in Joypurhat, Jahidul Islam, 40, of Kesharpur village under the same upazila, Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui, 55, and the driver of the bus Parvez, 34. Confirming the incident, Kazi Jalal Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Mirpur Police Station, said the bus was going to Biswa Zaker Manjil at Atrashi in Faridpur from Joypurhat to attend annual Urs Sarif. The bus plunged into a roadside ditch when it reached Naymail Kachari area as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving four dead on the spot. The injuries were admitted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital. All the injured are hailed from Joypurhat`s Akkelpur upazila.
