Sri Lanka batter Kusal Mendis was hospitalized on Monday after he felt pain on his chest during the game of the first day of the second and final Test against Bangladesh. He was taken to Evercare hospital in the city to assess his condition, a BCB official confirmed. During the 23 rd over of the day, when wicket-keeper Niroshan Dickwella gave him the ball after Mushfiqur Rahim left the delivery of pacer Kasun Rajitha, Mendis took it. But he left the playing area holding his chest soon after. Kamindu Mendis came as his substitute. “Mendis had to be taken to the hospital for proper diagnosis and better management of his condition,” Manzur Hossain Chowdhury, the BCB doctor said on Monday.
