Chittagong Bureau :Chittagong Zila Parishad has introduced the steamer service between Kumira and Sandwip upazila aimed at easing the communications of the people of the sea-bounded upazila Sandwip. BIWTC has supplied the steamer to Zilla Parishad.Administrator of Zila Parishad and General Secretry of Awami League , North district, Chittagong M A Salam inaugurated the ferry service from Kumira in Sitakunda through Magdara-Guptachara ferry ghat.In a brief deliverations, MA Salam said considering the inconveniences of the Sandwip people, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina pledged for easy communications for the Sandwip people. Among others, Mahfuzur Rahman Mita MP, Didarul Alam MP, chief executiveof Zila Parishad Syeda Sarwar Jahan, Secretary Rabindra Shree Barua and high officials of BIWTC were present in the inaugural ceremony. The schedule of the steamer ship fixed on trip a day to Sandwip and vice versa. The ship will sail from Kumira at 9 am which will return from Sandwip at 2 pm.
