UNB, Khulna :
A student of Khulna University (KU) drowned in the pond of Khan Bahadur Ahsanaullah Hall on the campus on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Shahriar Hossain Shanta, a first year student of Physics Department of the university and son of Belal Hossain, a resident of Sidheshwari Road in the city’s Ramna area.
Witnesses said Shanta along with his some of his friends went to the pond to take a bath around 3:00 pm.
Suddenly he slipped and drowned into the pond water.
Later, locals found the floating body of Shanto in the pond around 6:00 pm.
He was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Deputy commissioner Mostafa Kamal confirmed the incident.
