UNB, Dhaka :
Vice President of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque Dr Mohammad Bin Nasser Bin Mohammad Al Khuzaim on Wednesday said Saudi Arabia will continue to work with Bangladesh for the preaching and spreading of Islam.
Dr Mohammad Al Khuzaim said this when he along with Imam and Preacher of the Prophet’s
Mosque Abdulmehsin Bin Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Qasim met the Prime Minister at her office.
PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.
The Vice President of the two holy mosques said this referring to the committed Saudi assistance for building mosque-cum-Islamic cultural centers in the country’s all upazilas.
Highly appreciating the development initiatives of Bangladesh over the last eight years, Dr Al Khuzaim said, “Our perception regarding Bangladesh has now totally changed and it’s now very good.”
As Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh is eagerly waiting to receive Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Khuzaim said the Saudi King had accepted the invitation, and discussions are going on about his probable visit schedule in Bangladesh.
The Vice President of the two holy mosques also expressed his satisfaction and highly appreciated the present government’s steps for the preaching and spread of Islam.
He also noted that Saudi Arabia is also fighting against terrorism like other countries of the world.
Dr Mohammad Al Khuzaim also mentioned that Sheikh Hasina has done a lot for the Muslims and the people of Bangladesh.
Welcoming both of Mohammad Al Khuzaim and Abdul Rahman Al-Qasim in Bangladesh, Hasina said: “We’re very much delighted as you’ve come here. Makkah and Madinah are the two holy places and they’ve a special place in our hearts.”
Expressing her firm hope that all the Muslims of the world would live in peace, Hasina said she wants that the people of all faiths in Bangladesh would live in peace with the fulfillment of their basic needs.
About the vast number of expatriate Bangladeshi workers now staying in Saudi Arabia, she said the Bangladeshi workers are contributing to the economies of both the countries.
Mentioning that Bangladesh enjoys very historic and traditional relations with Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister hoped that such relationship will get a boost further in the days to come.
Terming Islam as the best religion as well as the religion of peace, humanity and solidarity, Hasina alleged that some vested terrorists are maligning its reputation with their various subversive activities.
Highlighting various initiatives of her government for the spread of Islam, the Prime Minister said mosque-cum-Islamic cultural centers are going to be constructed in every upazila. An Arabic University is being set up in addition to developing the Islamic Foundation which was founded by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matiur Rahman, PM’s Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Golam Masih and Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Al Mutairi were, among others, present.
The two imams are scheduled to attend a gathering of Bangladeshi Islamic scholars and clerics at the city’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Thursday as special guests.
Marking its 42nd founding anniversary, Islamic Foundation Bangladesh will organise the event. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to attend the programme as the chief guest.
