KSA keen to recruit more BD workers

Saudi Arabia has expressed its willingness to recruit more male workers and trained female domestic workers from Bangladesh to meet the demand of their domestic market.
“We want to hire more male workers in all categories including doctors and engineers as well as trained female workers,” Saudi Minister for Labour Mufarrej bin Saad Al-Haqbani said in a meeting with Bangladesh Minister for Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Islam B Sc in Riyadh on Thursday.
The minister, who is leading a five-member Bangladesh, is now in the Kingdom on a six-day official visit, an official release said here yesterday.
The Saudi minister for labour also expressed his country’s interest to work together in the areas of human resource development and recruitment for mutual benefits at the bilateral meeting, the press release added.
He noted that both countries had agreed to cooperate in the manpower sector through signing of an agreement in February last year and hoped that this visit would facilitate to improve cooperation in the manpower sector between the two countries. The Bangladesh minister termed relations between the two countries a time tested and deep rooted one with common history, faith, culture and religion.
He appreciated the noble gesture of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his government towards Bangladesh over the years.
Nurul Islam praised the development activities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and conveyed the greetings and regards of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Saudi King.
During the meeting, both ministers agreed to reduce migration cost and imparting training to Saudi- bound workers. They also agreed on formation and operation of the Joint Technical Committee to resolve issues related to recruitment and development of human resources.
The Bangladesh minister also apprised the recent initiatives and measures taken for the improvement in the manpower sector in Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
