The Independent Television, Dainik Samakal, Dhaka Tribune and Boishakhi Television moved into the semifinals of the Kool-BSJA Media Cup football tournament as they won their respective quarterfinals matches against their respective opponents on Monday at the Bangladesh Football Federation’s Astro Turf.
Both semifinals will be played today from 11.00 am with the final slated to be played same day at 11.30 am at the same venue. The winning team will get a trophy and Taka 20,000 prize money while the runners-up team will be given a trophy and Taka 10,000.
In the day’s first quarter-final, Samakal had to sweat hard as they beat Somoy Television. Sadman Shafique scored the cherished winner for Samakal to pick up the man of the match trophy.
Independent TV was in impressive form as they dump Bangla Vision Television by 4-0 goals in the second quarter-final. Biplob Bhuiyan scored a brilliant hat-trick for the winners. Mazhar scored the other goal for Samakal.
In the third quarter-final, Dhaka Tribune in a nail biting match edge past Janakantha in a tie-breaker after both teams were locked 1-1 after the end of the regulation time.
Zahiduzzaman’s goal broke the Daily Star’s heart as Boishaki Television booked their semi-final place with a narrow 1-0 win.
