Indo-Bangla river tourism reached to new horizon as Indian tourist vessel ` RV Bengal Ganga’ anchored Barishal river port on Wednesday noon.
The tourist vessel carrying 6 European and 13 Indian tourist, left Kolkata Khidirpur port on March 29 for Dhaka. On the way after visiting Sundarban region the vessel reached Barishal port on Wednesday noon and visited Oxford Mission Church of the city and Char Aicha village to get experience about city and rural lifestyle of the country.
They will also visit Chandpur, Sonargaon, and Narayanganj on way to Dhaka reaching on April 6
Mr. Nuruzzaman, logistic manager of `Gulf Orient Seaways (tour operator of Bangladesh part), said the tourist visiting Barishal for the first time became very excited and happy. They expressed their eagerness to visit green and riverine Bangladesh again.
The tour operator of Indian part was Kaniska Shipping, visa and immigration facilities also easier than other types of tour, he added.
One of Indian tourist Mr. Dipak Kumar, who also took part in Bangladesh liberation war as a captain of Indian Armed Forces, said he visited Bangladesh several times. `This kind of river cruising is very exciting and comfortable. Bangladesh is a very beautiful country to be visited again and again, chanting the slogan Joy Bangla he added.
Azmal Huda Mithu, deputy director BIWTA( safety and river transportation), said the Indian tourist river vessel Bengal Ganga will left Barishal for Dhaka on Thursday morning and we hope that this type of river tourism would be successful in future to expand tourism industry in the country.
