The body of Arafat Rahman Koko, the younger son of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, will arrive home from Malaysia tomorrow (Tuesday).
His second Namaz-e-Janaza will be held after Asr prayers in front of BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan in the city on the same day. Later, he will be buried at Banani graveyard. Gayebana Janaza will also be held across the country following the day, said the BNP.
Died in Malaysia on Saturday at the age of 45, Koko’s first Namaz-e-Janaza was held on Sunday after Zohr prayers at Masjid-e-Negera in Kuala Lumpur, the national mosque of Malaysia. Khaleda Zia’s younger brother Shamim Iskandar joined the Janaza. After the Janaza, the body was kept again at the mortuary of Malaya University Hospital. Earlier on Sunday, Shamim Iskandar, along with two others, left Dhaka for Malaysia to bring back home his nephew’s body.
The Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur has completed all the necessary formalities to send the body. It has endorsed all the necessary documents, including passport, death certificates and other relevant papers.
The BNP will observe countywide mourning for three days from today (Monday) to Wednesday. Announcing the programme, the party joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed in a press release on Sunday evening said that the party would observe the programme by hoisting black flags atop its offices, and leaders and workers would wear black badges.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) expressed deep shock at the death of Koko. On behalf of the DCCI, its President Hossain Khaled on Sunday sent a letter to Khaleda Zia condoling the death of her younger son. In the letter, it was said that all the members and Board of Directors of the DCCI prayed for the eternal peace and salvation of the departed soul of Koko.
