Koel Mallick sees cinema as an overall art form

Koel Mallick doesn’t believe in the difference between commercial or art house cinema. Instead, she wants to see cinema as an overall art form.
There has been a longstanding complaint from her fans that the actress does not do commercial films as much as she used to earlier.
Speaking about the same, she said, “I have a problem with the present definition of commercial films. To me, Ghorey and Bairey is an absolute mainstream film. There are also many films I have worked in that have been called art films by many. But I consider commercial,” she said.
Besides, she has already done a number of films, which the audience calls commercial. So now, she wants to do something really different.
“As an actor I want to explore myself and really want to break the stereotype. I want to go beyond my comfort zone,” she said, adding that Mitin Mashi and Ghorey ar Bairey have been great experiences for her. Besides, she is more than willing to do official remakes, but only if she gets interesting subjects and characters.
“For instance, the Bollywood film Drishyam is the remake of a Malayalam film. If I get such a story, why not,” she added.
