Kobori shifted to ICU as her physical condition worsens

Legendary film actress Sarah Begum Kobori has been shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in the capital after her physical condition has deteriorated.
She was shifted to Sheikh Russel National Gastroliver Institute & Hospital, Mohakhali from Kurmitola General Hospital around 2:15pm on Thursday as all ICU beds have already been occupied in the latter hospital, said Nur Uddin, personal assistant of the actress.
Earlier on Monday night, the actress-turned-politician was admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital after she had tested coronavirus positive on the day. Kobori received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Sareng Bou (1978). She was elected as a member of the Parliament from the Narayanganj-4 constituency as an Awami League candidate in 2008 and served until 2014. She stepped into the field of cinema as an amateur actress at the age of 13. In 1964, she acted in her first film, Sutorang under Subhash Dutta’s direction, and coincidentally after 40 years, in 2004, Subhash Dutta acted in the movie Ayna under Kabori’s direction.
The actress acted in several films such as Sujon Sokhi and Sareng Bou with Farooque in the 1970s. She also performed with Bulbul Ahmed in Devdas. She acted another important role in Titas Ekti Nodir Naam directed by Ritwik Ghatak, an Indian filmmaker.
