The Kiwis made a fighting total of 270 for the loss of eight wicket in 50 overs in their innings against the Tigers in their last and final match of the Walton Tri-Nation series at Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday.
New Zealand had a shaky start as they lost their early wicket for 23 runs. Opener Luke Ronchi was caught at the extra cover by Shakib Al Hasan off Mustafizur Rahman.
Then Tom Latham and Neil Broom repaired the damage adding together 133 runs for the second wicket partnership before Broom was caught at the square leg by Mashrafe Bin Mortaza off Nasir Hossain when the Black Caps’ total was 156 for the loss of two wickets.
Broom notched up a sparkle 63. His 76-ball innings was ornamented with seven fours. It was Broom’s fifth ODI half century.
After dismissal of Broom, Tom Latham could stay at the crease for a short period as he was bowled out by Nasir Hossain when New Zealand’s score was 167 for the loss of three wickets.
Tom Latham top-scored with 84. His 92-ball knock was laced with 11 fours. It was Latham’s eighth half century in ODI cricket.
After departure of Latham, Ross Taylor and Corey Anderson put on together 41 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Corey Anderson was caught at the square leg by Mahmudullah Riyad off Shakib Al Hasan when the Kiwis’ total was 208 for the loss of four wickets.
Ross Taylor remained unbeaten with 60. His 56-ball innings was ornamented with six fours. It was Taylor’s 36th ODI half century.
Anderson made 24 from 32 balls featuring three fours.
After dismissal of Anderson, bowlers of Bangladesh dominated over the Kiwis batsmen. Thus the New Zealand batsmen failed to make any remarkable partnership.
