Hosts England reached the semi-finals of the ICC World Cup Cricket beating New Zealand by 119 runs in their crucial match at Chester-le-Street in England on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, England piled up a fighting total of 305 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs and then they bundled out New Zealand for 186 off 45 overs.
Tom Latham of New Zealand, alone fought back making a fine 57. His 65-ball innings saw five fours.
Apart from Latham, all the batsmen of New Zealand failed to make notable score against the tight and controlled bowling attack of England.
Earlier, Jonny Bairstow hit a splendid 106. His 99-ball innings belted with 15 fours and a sixer. It was Baistow’s ninth ODI century. He also notched up another ton against India in this World Cup.
Opener Jason Roy also shone with the willow making 60. His 61-ball innings saw eight fours.
Eoin Morgan hit a captain’s knock of 42 from 40 balls with five fours.
Neesham, Henry, Boult captured two wickets each for 41, 54 and 56 runs respectively.
