Two New Zealand batsmen have paired to set a world record by hitting 43 runs in one over in a domestic one day cricket match.
On Wednesday, in the match of Northern Districts versus Central Districts in Ford Trophy, Joe Carter and Brett Hampton formed the new world of striking most number of runs in a single over.
The over delivered by medium fast bowler Willem Ludick included six sixes, a single four along with a single and aided by two no-balls.
The previous record for a List A one-day match was 39 runs from an over, set by Zimbabwe’s Elton Chigumbura while batting for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi against Abahani Ltd in the Dhaka Premier League.
The scoring went: 4, 6 (+1 for no ball), 6 (+1 for no ball), 6, 1, 6, 6, 6.
The bowler, who went into his 10th over with figures of 1-42, returned 1-85. The duo put on 178 for the sixth wicket in 21 overs.
