Kite competition for women held in Rangpur

Population Service and Training Centre (PSTC) organised daylong kite-flying competition on Carmichael College ground in the city on the occasion of observance of the International Women’s Day-2015.
Authority of Population Service and Training Centre, an NGO, organised the competitions with assistance of Action Aid and financial cooperation of the Department for International Development (DFID) with the theme of “Safe City, Fearless Women”.
Noted social worker Rukhsana Ahmed China, wife of City Mayor and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, inaugurated the programme through handing over kites to the participants as the chief guest.
Social workers of the city Perin Afroz Baby, Hamida Akhter and Campaign Officer of PSTC Syeda Nure Nabila Tabassum attended the occasion as special guests.
A large number of female competitors, including the students of different schools and colleges, adolescents and women of different age groups participated in the colourful kite-flying competition.
Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of different categories of the competition in the afternoon.
