Chicken, egg and vegetables’ prices have increased in Kishoreganj town as elsewhere in the Upazila areas due to a fall in production, retailers source said.
Chicken prices have shot up by Tk 22/23 on average and Poultry chicken are being sold at tk.170 per kg and egg prices have exceeded to 100 a dozen in span of a week in the retail markets. People alleged that price of some vegetables and fish increased by 70 percent in contrast of two weeks in the town kitchen markets. The trader alleged that due to short supply of chicken, fish and vegetables has pushed to increase the prices of these essential items.
In several kitchen markets, including Bara Bazar, Puranthana Bazar, Kachari Bazar, Batrish women Bazar and in posh super shops in the town, it was found on Sunday and Monday that chicken eggs selling at Tk. 110 per dozen.
Buyers expressed their anger over the increased price hike of eggs.One of them, CAB leader Assistant Professor Samiul Haque Mollah blamed manipulation behind the price hikes of eggs and chicken.
