At least 70 volunteer women association (cooperative organizations) were given grants worth Taka 20.50 lakh aimed at improving their living and livelihood condition in 13 Upazilas of Kishoreganj.
The organizations registered to the Department of Women Affairs were given the bank cheques at a function held at Shishu Academy Auditorium on Thursday.

organized the programme. ADC (General) Nazmul Islam Sarker attended as chief guest while Deputy Director of the Department of Women Affairs Mamunur Rashid presided over.
It was addressed among others by Jatiya Mohila Sangstha district chairman Mansurazzaman Natun, CAB district President Alam Sarowar Tito, Mohila Awami League district General Secretary Bilkis Begum and Poura Councillor Hasina Hyder Chamelly. The chief guest and others dignified guests distributed the bank cheques among the beneficiaries.
ADC (General) Nazmul Islam Sarker said, the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for the development and empowerment of women.
Senior journalist and CAB district President Alam Sarowar Tito said that the government has also attained success in the field of establishing equal rights for women side by side with generating employment opportunities for them.
