People of Kishoreganj municipality are suffering from about mosquito infestation. With the Corona epidemic looming, locals are fearful of contracting dengue fever. The residents of the municipality have demanded to spray mosquito repellent and destroy the mosquito breeding ground.
Talking to the residents of Batrish, Sholakia, Kharampatti, Ukilpara, Alor Mela, Gaital, Harua, Nagua, Tarapasha, Gouranga Bazar, Bara Bazar and Newtown of Kishoreganj Municipality, it is learned that mosquitoes have been entering the houses in swarms in the last few days. Closing doors and windows is no exception. Many have been deprived of sleep at night due to mosquito bites. Mosquito infestation is not going to be reduced by pulling mosquito nets as well as burning coils. Even during the day, it has become difficult to stand in the pain of mosquitoes in some places.
Some municipal residents, including Bappi Basak said mosquitoes were breeding in large numbers in various parts of the municipality due to non-regular cleaning of drains, bushes and garbage dumps. If the municipal authorities had sprayed mosquito repellents in these places, it would have been possible to prevent the spread of mosquitoes. But because the municipal authorities did not take that initiative, mosquitoes are being born. It is also spreading various mosquito-borne diseases.
