For the last 25 years, Bengal Foundation has been nurturing various sections of the country’s arts and cultures. The foundation’s journey especially commenced with music. Bengal Foundation came to the aid of standard recording of various genre of Bangla music, including Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, songs of three poets, old Bangla song, modern Bangla song, folk-song, patriotic song, mass song, classical song, instrumental, and ghazal.
In this continuation, the launching event of an album by eminent folk singer Kiran Chandra Rai, titled Megh Jamini took place recently.
The album features ancient devotional songs of the Padabali Kirtan, written by poets Bidyapati, Gobinda Das, and Gyan Das. The artists have recorded a total of 10 songs for the compilation.
Abul Momen, journalist and poet, unveiled the CD which was followed by a live performance by Kiran Chandra Roy. Luva Nahid Chowdhury, the director general of Bengal Foundation, has presented the programme.
