Newly appointed Head Coach of Bangladesh Football team Oscar Bruzon announced on Wednesday the 26-member Bangladesh Football squad for the upcoming SAFF Championship. Bruzon has included Eleta Kingsley in his 26-member squad. The SAFF Championship will be held at Male, the capital city of Maldives. Oscar Bruzon announced the Bangladesh squad at a press conference in the Bangladesh Football Federation House. Chairman of the Team Management Committee of BFF and Vice-President of BFF Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Manager of Bangladesh Football team Satyajit Das Rupu and General Secretary of the BFF Md Abu Nayeem Shohag were present at the conference, among others. Oscar have not called expatriate of Canada Rahbar Wahed Khan, expatriate of France Tahmid Islam and promising goalkeeper Mitul Marma. The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is trying to get permission from FIFA for Kingsley. The Nigerian-born Kingsley got Bangladeshi citizenship recently. He is waiting for green signal from FIFA to play for Bangladesh in all kind of international football matches.
The booters, who have been chosen, are: Ashraful Islam Rana, Sahidul Alam Sohel, Anisur Rahman Zico (Goalkeepers), Bishwanath Ghosh, Rahmat Mia, Topu Barman, Tariq Rahman Kazi, Riyadul Hasan, Yeasin Arafat, Rezaul Karim, Mehedi Hasan, Mohammad Atiquzzaman, Tutul Hossain Badshah (Defenders), Jamal Bhuiyan, Sohel Rana, Rakib Hossain, Saaduddin, Atiqur Rahman Fahad, Manik Molla (Midfielders), Mahbubur Rahman Sufil, Sumon Reza, Matin Mia, Biplo Ahmed, Jewel Rana, Eleta Kingsley and Md Ibrahim (Forwards).
A total of five teams will take part in the SAFF Championship, the most prestigious football competition of South Asian region. The first phase of the SAFF Championship will be held on Single League basis. Top two teams will get tickets of the final. The winning team of the final will be the champions of the SAFF Championship.
Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka on October 1, the red-and-green outfit will face favourites India on October 4, Bangladesh will meet Maldives on October 7, Bangladesh will play against Nepal on October 13. The final will be held on October 16.
