The country witnessed a rise in all sorts of crimes, particularly killing, marked by deterioration in the law and order situation, sources said.
A data of police headquarters showed that the country is witnessing an average 12 killing incidents a day following spurt in such incidents in the recent times.
The highest number of killing incident took place in October this year. A total of 430 people were killed during the month. The number was 374 in previous month (September).
In January last, a total of 403 people fell victim of killing, the number was 328 in February, 379 in March, 401 in April, 370 in May, 392 in June, 406 in July, 392 in August and 374 in September, according to the data of police headquarters.
“Killers are active in operating such crimes across the country apparently to destabilize the law and order situation of the country,” a high ranked police officer told The New Nation yesterday on condition of anonymity.
But, the police force remains active to prevent all sorts of crime in maintaining law and order situation in the country, he added.
He further said that the recent rise in intra and inter party feud (Awami League and BNP) has led to rise in the killing incidents across the country.
When asked, he said, these are only ‘isolated’ incidents and you cannot brand these as indication of deteriorating law and order situation.
He, however, mentioned that police force is conducting raids across the country to nab listed criminals, terrorists, killers and outlaws to ensure security of lives and properties of the citizens.
