The alleged attacker Zahirul Islam recently has decided to kill the BRTA official Shitangshu Shekhar Biswas’s family members to grab Tk 15 crore of Dhaka Stock Exchange Market.
Apart from the plan, Zahirul hit them on the Iqbal Road’s apartment in the capital’s Mohammadpur on Monday night, Pintu Biswas, uncle of Krishna Kaberi Biswas, told the New Nation on Wednesday.
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA deputy director invested the money in the stock market with the help of the attacker Zahirul, he said.
Shitangshu’s wife and daughters came to save him when Zahirul swooped on them. He set the house on fire with gunpowder, the relative said.
The news of Krisna’s death was not informed to her husband and daughters, he said. The victim Krishna’s brother-in-law Shudhangshu Shekhar Biswas on Wednesday filed a case with the Mohammadpur thana in this connection, said Azizul Haquq, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station.
The petitioner mentioned the name of Zahirul in the case, which number was No. 53, the police official said.
However, police still could not arrest anyone over the sensational murder, the OC said.
Shitangshu, his younger daughter Artri, 8, and elder daughter, Sruti, 15 are still undergoing treatment in critical condition in the city’s Metropolitan Hospital Hospital, sources said.
Kaberi succumbed to her burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 3:00am of Tuesday, they said.
Over 15 percent of her body was burnt, said DMCH sources.
Abdur Rahim, caretaker of the house said: “We allowed Zahirul to go the flat after getting permission from Shitangshu Biswas.”
Zahir fled from the apartment taking the chance of absence of the security guards when they went to the burnt floor of the building, he alleged.
Contacted, Biplob Kumar Sarkar, deputy commissioner (Tejgaon) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said Zahirul is an employee of a brokerage house.
The accused was known to the family members and he hit them according to preplan on the night, the police official said.
Shitangshu and his daughters claimed that ‘Zahirul’, was responsible for the attack, the AC said.
