The monument on the killing field of 26 Hindu family members and reconstruction of Shaheed Minar were inaugurated at Fapor union Parishad premise in Sadar upazila of Bogura on Tuesday.
The inauguration programme was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner of Bogura Md. Ziaul Hoque where chief guest was Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi Md. Humayun Kabir Khondakar.
Other guests were Upazila Chairman of Sadar Upazila and President of Bangladesh Awami League Sadar upazila unit Abu Shufian Shafique, former District Muktijoddha Commander Ruhul Amin Bablu, UNO of Sadar Upazila Md. Azizur Rahman, Chairman of Fapor union Lecturer Moharram Ali, Member of Shaheed Family Lecturer Ratan Kumar Sen, eye-witness of the killing Freedom Fighter Mojibur Rahman and others who spoke on the occasion.
In May 1971, the unfortunate 26 hindu youth were killed with brushfire in a room of Fapor High School premises by the Pakistani force and their local collaborators.
Later with the help of the local people, they digged mass grave and threw them there out of 26 youth victims, the identities of 21 were found and the identities of the rest 5 were yet to find out.
Hearing from the freedom fighters and finding some skeletons in the areas, the Chairman Moharram Ali informed the DC of Bogura in a virtual meeting and the DC gave consent to erect a monument on the killing field in the location.
Speakers praised the extra-ordinary activities of the District Administration as they found uncommon sign of freedom loving people’s sacrifice in 1971. Liberation War and they demanded to do something for the Shaheed families and urged to inform the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina about the present condition of the members of the Shaheed families.
Lecturer Ratan Kumar Sen, son of one of the Shaheed in the killing field said that after the killing of his father, grandfather, uncle and other relatives, they passed very bad times, their lands were grabbed, six brothers and sisters are in miserable condition.
Eye-witness Freedom Fighter Mujibur Rahman said that he and some youths were called in the location to pull a truck but practically they were kept in one side of the field and two times 13 members were killed through bushfire and later they ensured the death of the Shaheeds.
Former District Muktijoddha Commander Ruhul Amin Bablu said that the present government has been doing many things for the freedom fighters and unearth of the killing field is a real success after a long period of time.
Chairman of Sadar Upazila Abu Shufian Shafique said that the Father of the nation and his daughter and the present Prime Minister has been doing utmost for the freedom fighters and Shaheed Families.
Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi Md. Humayun Kabir Khondakar said that he was proud to be the part of the inauguration of such uncommon killing field by the Pakistani Army and their local Collaborators.
He also ensured them to convey the message to the concerned Ministry to enlist the killing field.
With the ending speech of the DC, Bogura Md. Ziaul Hoque, as the president of the whole programme, the programme was finally ended.
