The two and a half year old girl child who escaped from the killing attempt by his mother died at Sailkupa Upapzila Health Complex on Saturday morning.
Police said, the step mother Parul Khatun, wife Majnu Maaandal of of Koupara village under Hakimpur Union Parishad of Sailkupa Upazila in Jhenaidah had tried to kill her step daughter putting part of a mosquito net in to her mouth on May 15 at her house in the noon. Hearing the screaming of the minor child, locals rushed and rescued the baby.
The locals also handed over the step mother to Sailkupa police and sent the baby to Sailkupa upazila health complex. The physicians referred the baby to Jhenaidah Sadar hospital in a critical state. The baby was once again referred to Kushtia general hospital.
As the condition of the baby was improving, the authority released him Wednesday. When the condition of the baby was once again deteriorated, she was taken to Sailkupa upazila health complex on Friday. But she succumbs to her injuries there in the morning of Saturday.
The investigation officer of Sailkupa police station Sanjoy Kumar when contacted said, the step mother was sent to jail-hazat earlier for her alleged involvement in the killing attempt of her step daughter.
