The wild cat that killed as many as 62 baby crocodiles at Karamjal Wild Animal Breeding Centre under Chandpai Forest Range in the Eastern Division of Sundarbans was at last killed by the Forest Department but it is alleged by the environmentalists that it was done to divert the matter into other direction.

It my be mentioned here that earlier it was announced by the forest department that the missing baby crocodiles of the breeding centre were stolen as sabotage act by some one. In this connection an investigation committee was formed by the forest department and that committee already accused an employee of the wild animal breeding centre and suspended him. But it is allege by the environmentalists that the wild cat that was shot dead and made responsible for killing or missing of the baby crocodiles is an arranged drama of the forest department. It is also accused by them that the forest department is doing this in order to divert the matter into other direction. The forest department at first declared that 43 baby crocodiles had been stolen and later the Forest Department told that 19 baby crocodiles were eaten by the wildcat. Dr. Faridul Islam, Chairman of Save the Sundarban Foundation told, such statements of the forest department are not acceptable at all.
