‘Kidney dialysis centers to be set up in all medical colleges, sadar hospitals’

Kidney dialysis centers will be set up in all medical college hospitals and sadar hospitals at the district level across the country.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek disclosed this at project review meeting of the ministry held at its meeting room at the secretariat in the capital, said a press release.
The minister said a total of 50 beds will be set up at medical college hospitals for kidney dialysis while 10 beds will be set up at the sadar hospital level.
Malek said a project was approved in the ECNEC in this regard and the project will be completed by 2022.
The minister said about 1.90 crore people of the country are suffering from kidney diseases and 17.3 percent people are affected by chronic kidney diseases every year.
He hoped that the countrymen would be benefitted after setting up the centers in all medical college hospitals and sadar hospitals at district level, the release added.
Directorate General of Health Services director general Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad, additional secretary Md Habibur Rahman and Directorate General of Nursing and Midwifery Director General Siddiqua Akter and senior officials of the ministry were present in the meeting.
