An Indian citizen who was reportedly kidnapped on May 23 from an Indian village was rescued from a house at Balujhuri Christianpara in Sribardi upazila on Saturday noon.
Falgun Areng, 55, son of late Ching Re Sangma of Hatimarak village in Meghalaya, was kidnapped from his village and taken to Bangladesh.
Sribaradi Police Station Officer-in-charge Rezaul Haq said a group of some seven or eight rogues kidnapped him and later confined him in a house of the village.
On Saturday morning the victim escaped and took shelter at his relative Pranjol Areng’s house in the village, the OC said. Being informed, police rescued Falgun from there, he added. “Falgun Areng will be handed over to his family following legal procedure,” said the OC.
