Police recovered the body of a minor girl from a pond in Uposohor area of district town on Friday morning, sixdays after her abduction.
The deceased was identified as Mahfuza Akhter Mimi, 8, daughter of Mahbubur Rahman, a resident of the area and a class one student of Islamic Research Centre. Khalequzzaman, officer-in-charge Kotowali
Police Station, said miscreants picked up Mimi on December 26 while he was playing with other kids in the area.
Later, the kidnappers demanded TK 8 lakh from Mimi’s father Mahbubur over phone for her release.
Following the phone call, Mahbubur went to the place fixed by the kidnappers, but he found their phone switched off. Later, he filed a complaint with Kotowali Police Station.
Being informed by locals, police recovered the decomposed body in the morning and sent it to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Police arrested five people in connection with the incident. Mimi’s father filed a murder case.
