Khurshid Alam still steps forward

His contemporary many singers, music directors and lyricists got the National Film Awards. But Khurshid Alam did not get the award till now. Many songs became popular in his voice. He is continuing rendering song. But he has no sorrow for not to get the National Film Award. According to him, it is a great achievement for him that still now music-lovers hear and like his songs.
Last year Khurshid Alam got serious injury due to an accident. He then came back to music. His contemporary singers did not take part in any show due to corona pandemic but Khurshid Alam attended programmes with having risk.
Last July he returned to TV programme. On Tuesday, he rendered songs in Channel i’s live musical show Gaan Diye Shuru. He rendered film and modern songs in the programme. On August 26, he will take part in recording of Bangladesh Television’s show Aamar Joto Gaan. This month he is expected to render a song which lyric was written by Adhora Jahan.
In 2019, Khurshid Alam became member of jury board of the National Film Award. He said, “In the beginning of my career, I was victim of politics in music. I was hailed from North Bengal. For this reason, I had to give three times audition in BTV. When my rendered popular play-back song titled Maago maa ogo maa amare banaila tumi diwana of film Somadhi everybody thought I would get the National Film Award. But I didn’t get it. There were also possibilities to get the award for play-back songs in films Agontuk, Lalubhulu, Joker, etc. But I couldn’t get it. I have no pain now in this regard. Everybody loves my songs – it’s my great achievement.”
In 1967, Khurshid Alam got the scope to render song in Betar. On that year, his rendered two songs – Chanchal du’noyon, which lyric was composed by Jebunnesa Zaman and music was composed by Azad Rahman, and Tomar du-haat chhiye shopoth nilam, which lyric was written by poet Kazi Sirajul Islam, were recorded in Betar. Later, he got the opportunity to lend his vocal for play-back song in Babul Chowdhury’s film Agontuk.
