Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Khulna Titans officially announced their arrival in the biggest domestic cricket tournament of the country through launching its logo on Thursday.
Directors of Gemcon Group, directors of Bangladesh Cricket Board, members of the BPL Governing Council and members of the media were present at the logo launching ceremony held at the city’s local hotel.
Khulna Titans Icon player Mahmudullah Riyad and the team technical advisor Habibul Bashar Sumon were also present in the ceremony.
The ceremony began as Mrs Ameenah Ahmed, director, Gemcon Group, unveiled the Khulna Titans logo. This was followed by welcome speech by Kazi Inam Ahmed, director, Khulna Titans.
Inam in his speech said: “We (Khulna Titans) want to play exciting, honest and fun cricket. We have a dynamic young management with Shumon bhai, Nafees as manager. We are delighted to have our icon player Mahmudullah Riyad as the captain of the team. We hope under his leadership we will play good cricket, and win the hearts of our fans.”
Inam later declared Mahmudullah as the captain of Khulna Titans for the season which is scheduled to begin on November 4.
Australian coach Stuart Law has been named as the head coach of the team, Kazi Emdadul Bashar Ripon as the assistant coach. Former Bangladesh opener Nafees Iqbal is the team manager.
