Khulna Tigers in BBPL play-off

Khulna Tigers stormed into the play-off stage of Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) beating Cumilla Warriors by 92 runs in their Twenty20 cricket match at the flood-lit Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Friday.
Khluna Tigers bagged 14 points from 11 matches, while Cumilla earned 10 points from 12 matches.
Batting first Khulna Tigers piled up a mammoth total of 218 for the loss of two wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and
then restricted Cumilla Warriors to 126 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs Khulna Tigers had a poor start as in-form opener Najmul Hossain Shanto (1) was trapped leg before wicket by Irfan Hossain when Khulna Tigers’ score was just two.
After Shanto’s departure, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Rilee Rossouw repaired the early damage adding together 31 runs for the second wicket partnership before Rossouw was caught by Sabbir Rahman off Mujeeb Ur Rahman when Khulna’s total was 33 for the loss of two wickets.
After Rossouw’s dismissal, Miraz and Mushfiqur Rahim built a huge partnership. They contributed together 168 runs in the third wicket partnership before Miraz was retired hurt when Khulna’s total was 201.
Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 98. His 57-ball typhoon innings was laced with 12 fours and three sixes.
Miraz hit a stormy 74. His 45-ball knock saw three sixes and five fours. Rossouw hit 24 from 11 deliveries including three sixes.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Irfan Hossain got one wicket each for 18 and 38 runs respectively.
Cumilla Warriors lost their wickets in regular intervals.
Upul Tharanga of Cumilla Warriors fought back scoring 32. His 23-ball innings had six fours.
Shahidul Islam grabbed three wickets at the cost of 27 runs, while Aminul Islam and Mohammad Amir claimed two wickets each for 19 and 24 runs respectively. Shamsur Rahman and Robbie Frylinck took one wicket apiece.
