Khulna Shipyard Limited, the state-owned ship construction and repair yard, on Sunday handed over two pilot vessels Tentulia-1 and Tentulia-2 to Payra Port Authority (PPA).
Managing Director of Khulna Shipyard Ltd (KSY) captain M Sazedul Karim handed over protocol of delivery and acceptance document to the State Minister for shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury in a simple ceremony.
The handing over ceremony was held at the shipyard premises where Additional Shipping Secretary Tariqul Islam, Chairman of Payra Port Authority (PPA) Commodore M Zahangir Alam, Chairman of Mongla Port Authority (MPA) Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad, Commander of Khulna naval area Rear Admiral Muhammad Musa and senior navy and KSY officials, among others, were present.
The state minister said KSY is now building world standard pilot vessels it got vibrant after getting facelift by the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and KSY has now turned into a profitable organization after Bangladesh Navy took over it on October 3, 1999.
“Bangladesh Navy is playing vital role to achieve vision-2021 and 2041 as dreamt by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” the state minister said adding that dredging works of 10.000 kilometers naval routes , one of the election manifesto of the present government is progressing fast.
