Gouging out Shahjalal's eyes: Khulna PBI submits report claiming cops as innocent

At last members of Police Investigation Bureau (PBI) of Khulna submitted report in a Khulna court claiming as innocent the accused policemen including OC Nasim Khan of Khalishpur police station under Khulna Metropolitan police (KMP).
 Due to mysterious reason, OC Nasim Khan was recently transferred to Horintana police station during the pendency the case in the court, filed by the mother of the victim Shahjalal whose both the eyes were allegedly gouged out by policemen without getting the hush money reportedly demanded by the police while he was under the custody of policemen of Khalishpur police station which is direct violation of section 20 of Torture & Death (Prevention) Act (Law), 2013 under police custody and which is punishable offence and also the violation of sections 143, 323 and 326 of Bangladesh Penal Code.  
However, if it is stated in the investigation report that it could not be ascertained the actual criminals regarding the gouging out of both the eyes of Shahjalal. For this reason, a question has been raised by the common people – who has gouged out the eyes of Shahjalal ?
PBI’s Khulna Inspector Md. Bablur Rahman Khan submitted the investigation report after 144 days on January 14, 2018 in the court. The report was signed by Additional Police Superintendent of Khulna PIB Muhammad Anisur Rahman. The next day of the case was fixed on February 15, 2018, Court sources said.
Mentionable in this connection that as per direction of the court, PBI took charge for investigation of the case on September 24, 2017.
Md. Zakir Hossain, father of Shahjalal alleged that both the eyes of his son Shahjalal was gouged out in presence and under the custody of police which might be proved according to the evidence of Shahjalal, but PBI submitted a whimsical, partial and fictitious report in the court, Zakir Hossain added.
Advocate Mominul Islam, advocate for the complainant who is also Khulna district Coordinator of Bangladesh Human Rights Implementation Organization said, the report made and submitted by PBI is completely controversial for saving the policemen.
Meanwhile, the family members of Shahjalal arranged a press conference at Khulna Press Club on January 12 as they have been passing their days amid different threats including death threat for filing the case in the court.
It is also stated in the written statement during the Press conference that the family members of Shahjalal sought for intervention of the Prime Minister, Home Minister and IGP as the members of Shahjalal have been suffering from Insecurity.
13 persons including 11 policemen were sued on Thursday ( September 7, 2017) in a Khulna court on charge of allegedly gouging out both the eyes of an youth . The case was accepted by the court and the date for order was fixed on September 17, 2017.
The accused persons are-OC of Khalishpur police station under Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), SI Rasel, SI Nur Islam, SI Md. Selim Molla, SI Mizan, SI Mamun, ASI Md. Selim Molla, ASI Taposh Roy, ASI Syed Ali, Ansar Lance Nayek Abul Hossain, Ansar Nayek Rezaul, Ansar constable Afsar Ali and Suma Aktar,20, daughter of Shukur Ahmed, resident of 61/1, Lower Jessore road under Khalishpur police station and Md. Rasel, son of Lutfar Howlader, resident of city’s Badamtala area under Khanjahan Ali police station.
Renu Begum, complainant of the case alleged the Arjee (Case statement) that on July18,2017 in the evening from the In-laws house of Shahjalal, he went to the market with a view to purchase milk for his child , but all on a sudden ,OC Nasim Khan called Shahjalal to Khalishpur police station and after taking financial benefit from Suma and Rasel, demanded taka 1.5 lacs to the members of Shahjalal’s family. As the members of the family of Shahjalal failed to meet the demand of the OC, he (OC Nasim) and some of other policemen took away Shahjalal outside the police station and later they left him (Shahjalal) in Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) after gouging both the eyes of Shahjalal. Thereafter OC Nasim Khan lodged a snatching case against Shahjalal.
Md. Zakir Hossain, father of Shahjalal said, Shahjalal is now undergoing treatment in Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
OC Nasim Khan refuted the allegation and told the newsmen that all the allegations brought against the policemen are not true.
Advocate Md. Mominul Islam, Khulna district Coordinator of Bangladesh Human Rights Implementation Organization is the lawyer for the complainant of the case.
When contacted, Advocate Mominul Islam told this correspondent that the learned court accepted the case and fixed the date for order on September 17,2017.
